NE556/ICM7556/ICL7556/TLC556 Pin out

These chips are 14-pins packaged dual timers and can be operated by 2V to about 16V. NE556/ICM7556/ICL7556/TLC556 all have the same pin out. They are all the same integrated circuits, they all have the same pin configurations. The difference between them is the manufacturer.

Pin outs and functions of each pin below
  1. DISCHARGE 1_ Goes LOW when pin 2 sees 2/3 of the rail voltage if pin 6 is seeing 1/3 of the rail voltage.
  2. THRESHOLD 1_ It makes output 1 (Pin 5) goes LOW when it sees 2/3 of rail voltage.
  3. CONTROL V 1_ A voltage applied to this pin controls or varies the timing of the RC network 1.
  4. RESET 1_ Turns chip1 ON when connected to positive rail and OFF when connected to ground.
  5. OUTPUT 1_ Goes HIGH or LOW
  6. TRIGGER 1_ It makes output 1 (pin 5) goes HIGH when it sees 1/3 of rail voltage.
  7. GROUND_ Connects to the ground or 0V rail supply.
  8. TRIGGER 2_ It makes output 2 (pin 9) goes HIGH when it sees 1/3 of the rail voltage.
  9. OUTPUT 2_ Goes HIGH or LOW
  10. RESET 2_ Turns chip2 ON when connected to positive rail and OFF when connected to ground.
  11. CONTROL V 2_ A voltage applied to this pin controls or varies the timing of the RC network 2.
  12. THRESHOLD 2_ It makes output 2 (Pin 9) goes LOW when it sees 2/3 of rail voltage.
  13. DISCHARGE 2_ Goes LOW when pin 12 sees 2/3 of the rail voltage if pin 8 is seeing 1/3 of the rail voltage.
  14. VCC SUPPLY_ Connects to the positive rail supply.
